• I know, I am perhaps a little late to the post-release party excitement of the latest Bridget Jones book. I was a huge fan of Bridget back in the day, so it is so nice to finally be reading her diary again (hehe, yes ok I am so nosey!).

We have now skipped from the ending of the The Edge of Reason, to Bridget as a 51 year old widow. At first, I found a this a little harder to relate to. As I remember Bridget as the 30 something with a disastrous love-life who finally got her man. It doesn't take long, however before we see more of the Bridget we know and loved.

There is however, something I can't put quite my finger on as to why I couldn't quite connect with Bridget's character the way I did. It has maybe been too long since the last time we saw her. I don't know, or maybe I have just grown up. Who knows. I still loved her though and the book is a really funny read.

I now, perhaps as many of us do, associate Bridge Jones with the films starring Renee Zellweger. As yet, it still remains to be seen if this book will be made into a film, or indeed, if Renee Zellweger will play Bridget. Either way, I am glad she was back for an update after all these years.

Has anyone else read the book? What did you think?

    Helen xoxo
